A skeleton semi-trailer (also called a skeletal trailer, container chassis, or skeleton trailer) is a type of semi-trailer specifically designed for transporting shipping containers.
1. Container Twist Locks
Equipped with 4 to 12 twist locks.
Securely holds 20ft, 40ft, or 45ft containers.
2. Robust Steel Frame
Built with high-tensile steel (often Q345 or equivalent).
Designed for strength and durability under heavy loads.
3. Extendable or Fixed Length
Some models are telescopic (extendable) to carry different container sizes.
Others are fixed-length, optimized for one container type.
4. Standardized Coupling
Universal kingpin connection (2" or 3.5") fits most tractor heads.
Complies with ISO container transport standards.
5. Heavy-Duty Axles & Suspension
Typically fitted with 3 axles, mechanical or air suspension.
Designed to handle up to 60 tons of cargo.
